NAP's plan differs from Chili's Master Plan

North American Properties proposal to build a shopping center on Paul Road has Chili residents clamoring for information and facts. So here is something I found very interesting.

The Master Plan makes reference to future development opportunities. It specifically endorses “neighborhood” shopping opportunities.

Now NAP is pitching its proposal to the town of Chili as a “neighborhood” shopping center. However, it is pitching this very same shopping center to potential tenants as a “regional” shopping center. The information found on www.naproperties.com (Web site for North American Properties) has a nice promotional flier which indicates the center will open in the spring of 2008, which I found interesting enough on its own being that they are not even close to approval. The flier shows a nice demographic of the population and average household income of the potential shopping area.

Their flier makes reference to a population of approximately 171,000 people.Hmmmm, I believe Chili itself is about 28,000 so where are the other 140,000 neighbors of mine coming from? Actually Jeff Pape of NAP was approached with this very same question. His response: "Well we are trying to attract tenants."

I say to you, you can't have it both ways. So let’s at least call it what it is.
This is a regional not neighborhood shopping center. Which is not consistent with the Master Plan.
