Talking Points about the proposed Mall on Paul Road

What:  A strip mall on 53 acres with 345,000 square feet of retail space, to fit 2 Big-Box stores, 2 medium outlets, 3 bank/restaurants and 2 rows of smaller stores. And 1600 parking spots!

Where: On land that is now zoned residential and PNOD on the south side of Paul Rd. west of Archer Road and east of Wegmans.

Why:  To provide shopping opportunities that already exist only 10 minutes away.

Some Negative Impacts to be endured by Chili residents:

  1. A complete change in the character of this part of our town

  2. Promises to residents of tax benefits which cannot be guaranteed

  3. Potentially higher local property taxes

  4. Increased traffic and congestion

  5. Potential loss of locally-owned community stores and restaurants

  6. Potential increase in local crime rates

  7. Loss of control of locally owned land (53 acres) to an out of town developer

  8. Decreased home resale value in numerous residential neighborhoods

  9. Increased air, water (Black Creek), light & noise pollution

  10. Potential for an abandoned and shuttered, failed shopping center

  11. The loss of safe, residential communities for adjacent neighborhoods.
